Competition is something we take for granted here on ths planet. We think of it as natural as the air that we breath. Some of us even praise it as a vehicle that will facilitate the ultimate evolution of our species. I would like to look at the underlying roots of this phenomenon and discuss how it might actually be standing in the way of our spirirtual evolution.

If we look closely at the nature of competition we may notice that it is based on the “need to win”. Now some will say that winning is about feeling better about and with one’s self. The question then becomes, well how does that person feel when that need is not satisfied? Well, probably not so good about themselves.

The question is then, why are they not feeling so good about themselves to start with? Well, when one allows a need to determine the state of their self esteem, self worth, happiness, and fulfillment then they have made themselves dependent on that need, have they not? They have, in other words, given up their power to that need and therefore have become weakened by doing so.

It is this giving away of one’s power that creates the need in the first place. Now what do I mean by this? To retain the power to be able to create whatever one desires one feels automatically fulfilled and happy. Here there is no feeling that something is lacking.

Of course many believe that they don’t have the power to create whatever they desire and therefore choose to live with the need to go out and “win it” or “take it away” from someone else. Does it feel good to you to find yourself living this way? If not then follow me a bit farther.

The belief that “I do not have the power to create whatever I want” is clearly not desirable is it? Clearly not because it leaves one feeling powerless and in a state of lack. So why does anyone choose to hang on to it? Well because:

1. It motivates one to work hard and create that which one desires, so that,

2. One can get what one desires, so that,

3. One can feel happy, fulfilled and so that,

4. One can be in and experience a state of abundance.

Hence the conclusion we have reached is that:

(A) The belief “I do not have the power to create whatever I want” helps me experience a state of abundance.

So just stop for a moment and say the statement: “I do not have the power to create whatever I want” to yourself and notice whether you are experiencing a feeling of abundance. Probably not, rather you may feel somewhat powerless and lacking.

Hence the conclusion (A) above doesn’t exactly resonate with you as the truth, does it? But this is what you have probably bought into as the truth. In other words you have choosen to believe something that now you may recognize doesn’t resonate for you as the truth.

If you are confused it is because you are beginning to reawaken to your true nature as a Being of unlimited power and one who in no way is associated with any kind of need.
