I want to talk about Ethics and honesty in Internet marketing (A subject close to my heart)
I”ve been marketing on the Internet now for getting on for 18 months, and in that time I”ve met a variety of people.
Some have been absolutely fantastic, others have been so darned crooked, it”s a wonder they could even stand up straight…
I do a fair amount of lurking and posting on some of the bigger marketing forums, and there has been a number of times I”ve literally winced when I”ve seen the answers some Newbie marketers have been given from some of the more “they should know better” marketers desperate to sell something through their affiliate link.
I”m not getting religious on you here, (So don”t panic.) But, something said a couple of thousand years ago…
“Do to other people as you would have them do to you, or words to that effect. But, would you agree these precepts hold as good nowadays, as they did then?
Do you ever wonder whether our integrity and ethics get lost in that desperate race to make a living or just as much money as we can in Internet marketing?
It doesn”t always seem to matter that we know or guess whatever we are urging other people to buy may not be suitable, “as long as we are making something out of “it”
I started buying and selling on Ebay last Summer. Call me naive (which some people did but I applied these principles to my Ebay selling.
To my surprise and delight they work…
I”m honest, I”m principled, I”m ethical (Ok I know I”m blowing my own trumpet as well and yes ok, I”ve been ripped off by one or two people ( but hey, will I buy from them again?)
What I”m trying to say is this type of strategy does work, for a start I have lots of repeat customers to show for it. If I make a mistake, (and I do I own up to it and try to redress it. (It”s a strategy that”s got me off the hook loads of times).
I also use this strategy on all my websites and business dealings. I”m upfront (I don”t beat about the bush).
Because What you see with me, is what you get, and guess what, I can sleep at night..
As an Internet marketer, how are your principles standing up, are you able to go to bed at night and lay your head down with a clear conscience?
How is the guarantee on the product you”re selling holding up, are you honouring it? Because so many don”t (sigh)
What”s your customer service like (do you have any)? Will you go that extra mile to help someone out who is really struggling,
Do you keep your word?
There is so much involved in being an ethical marketer isn”t there? But, I”ve found the warm glow you get when you know that whatever you”ve achieved, you achieved without treading on other people, takes me a long way.
