The less experience you have in editing, for example, the less you are worth. Also, in the proofreading and editing jobs that are available, you’ll need a good, solid knowledge of the way things work. You’ll need certifications as well. If you have these and/or experience, your income potential is much higher than that of someone who doesn’t. The websites that offer information on income levels in this sort of employment will gauge it by the level of skill, experience, and training required for particular jobs.
Simply being able to offer more of these aspects will put you in the position to make more income than others would.
